ITS TIME FOR US AS INDIVIDUALS TO TAKE PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY February, 2001 What motivated me to rise at 3:41 on this morning of December 29, 2000? It was the thought of overcoming obstacles, primarily, the lack of sufficient communication with all deserving technicians and denturists. I am concerned for the future of today's technicians. I would like to see all of you become professionals. If you are content to be a technician or a successful laboratory owner, it is not necessary to bother reading any further. However, if you are really interested in success, please follow along very closely. I intend to address critical issues such as: Why was I semi-inactive from www.denturist.cc since October of 2000? Why has there been a lack of communication to students and others who were either visitors of the web site or who inquired to everjo@juno.com through e-mail? Why haven't denturist organizations in the past been able master successful communications with their members? In what denturist program should a candidate enroll? How can denturists/technicians have a voice in the denturist profession? When and how will denturists ever become organized? These questions will be dealt with in this article. Solutions will be brought to light to aid us all to communicate and function in an organized fashion. In order to have the respect of our peers, it is of primary importance that one is subject to accountability. I'm sure those who have known me would agree that I am among those who have spent a tremendous amount of time, money and dedication toward the denturist profession. I also think it would be fair to say that I am well connected with denturists, nationally. However, to accomplish those items and not establish effective communication, direction and leadership is simply not going to do the job. I assure you that my absenteeism from responsibilities, were due to extreme hardship. I stand accountable and also apologize for not providing the essential tools needed in order for the denturist profession to succeed. Later in this article, we are going to talk about solutions that will assure that these kinds of problems will be strictly a thing of the past. As one of the founders of the American Denturist Advocacy Council, and
the one who raised scores of thousands of dollars of which are currently
available in the ADAC war chest, I am not only committed, but also determined
that this organization is going to be ethical, unified, and victorious.
Take notice of the order of the key words in the last sentence. To have
effective meaning they cannot be taken lightly. The first one is ethics.
Without ethics, it is impossible for any person or organization to command
the respect of its constituents. What is the second word? Unified. One
man will never succeed in trying to guide this profession. It is a giant
responsibility to shoulder the destiny of the denturist profession. In
order to carry out these responsibilities, ethically, it is essential
that each active person not only be heard, but have a part in the decision-making.
We have finally formed an organization that is by denturists in the unregulated
states, of them and for them. To assure this, a general meeting date will
be announced in this article, at which elections will be held. The ADAC has the largest membership of any denturist organization in the US. It also has more expertise from which to draw from. We as an organization assure that if you are a paid member, your web site, e-mail and telephone inquiries will be responded to. And we will both hear and take seriously into consideration any member's suggestions or input, who makes the effort to attend an annual meeting. We certainly do not expect everyone to attend annual meetings, however, if you wish to be part of the decision making process, you must be present. The next ADAC general meeting will be held on Saturday May 19, 2001. The meeting will run from 9:00am through 4:00pm. Lunch will be from 12:00 -1:00. At the morning session all members who have contributed $1,000 or more will have the opportunity subdivide into a separate meeting to have discussion and decision-making regarding the use of the war chest funds. Elections will be held in the afternoon. Saturday will be the only day; with the agenda assigned specifically for business. Saturday night will be a free night and there may be organized recreation for those who prefer. The hotel rates will be as low as possible; probably between $50 and $75. Location and hotel reservation information along with other accommodations will be announced on March 10, 2001 on www.denturist.cc By attending the meeting you will also be able to obtain information about being able to practice as a licensed denturist. Preliminary groundwork is currently being set up for legal denturist practice in two additional states in the US. By becoming a member of ADAC, you will make yourself eligible to receive information regarding those states. Make sure to spread the word to your denturist and technician friends. We recommend that you arrive on Friday and depart on Sunday so that you can be in attendance for all the scheduled segments. For those who plan to fly, it is recommended that you make your flight reservations three weeks or more in advance so that you are able to receive the lowest air fair? Thank you for your visit. By following the guidelines of this article, we can be sure of the best communications and follow up that any denturist organization has ever been able to offer. We invite you to visit often. We will be adding updates, biweekly. Don't forget to mention this site to your friends. Please note that we will consider suggestions from everyone; but we only have sufficient resources to follow up on communications of our members.
