Denturist Highlights 2002 is all but over and we can all look to rapid progress in the March 2003 issue of U S Denturist News. We want to thank all active denturists for their dedication and participation in the American Denturist Society and the American Medical Denturitry Association. Many more denturists will be regulated and licensed in 2003. As of now, the American Denturist Society is in active communications with seven denturist groups as well as other individual denturists pertaining to legislation in nine states. These states will be revealed as their legislation becomes introduced. Preliminary procedures of the legislative process were illustrated at the ADS Conference that was held at the Hilton Harrisburg & Towers in Pennsylvania on October 19, 2002. Members who desire to learn more about the ADS Legislative Program may receive information by contacting the ADS office. The program is designed so that any committed individual who has determination can be successful. We are confident that before the end of 2003, all states will be vested in this valuable program. A Historical Landmark We are not talking about a sight or a monument. We are talking about the 2002 U S Denturist Symposium that was sponsored by the American Denturist Society. Before we disclose the description of events, the board of the American Denturist Society requested that we make sure to thank all that were in attendance. You have all sacrificed to be there. Some of you have traveled great distances. Without you the symposium would have been without success. We also thank your families for sharing you with us. Gauging from your response all of you took a wealth of information back to your states. The date of the event was October 18-20, 2002. It was held in historical downtown Harrisburg, Pennsylvania at the Hilton Harrisburg & Towers. The events kicked of with hospitality on Friday evening of the 18th in the United States Board Room where denturists from various states exchanged ideas and became acquainted. Saturday morning began with a presentation Greater Profits from What We Already Know, featuring the Comfort Care Denture System by Allen Deeley, CDT and Vinnie Verdeosa, CDT. The symposium began at 1:00 with Denturist Practice an overview by Dr. Jerome Kaye and followed by Denturist Licensing a part given be Dr. Ralph Dhuy and Dr. Ronald Fine. Next Dr. Dhuy explained how he assisted the legislators in implementing denturist practice into the state of Maine and relating how it could be done elsewhere; with Dr. Everett Van den Eeden emphasizing how the tools that would collapse the time frame and make the legislative process much easier. It was at this session that the 2nd edition of Denturists and Dentures - What the Public Must Know! was released along with two other strategy publications. Dr. Van den Eeden explained how the materials would be effective for public exposure and for media tools. He described how a citizen from Minnesota wrote him to ask for help to introduce a denturist bill. He related that not having sufficient time, he simply sent the man a book, and that about thirty days later that man sent him a copy of the bill after it went through Minnesota state statute revisions and is scheduled to be heard in January 2003. He also illustrated how the Denture Monopoly booklet and the Denture Monopoly brochure were designed with a purpose and how they can be effectively used. The evening ended with a banquet dinner where denturists were able to share their newfound experiences, a good meal, some up building strategy conversation along with the excitement of receiving some door prizes. If you missed this one, make sure to get an early start this year by planning to attend the 2003 Denturist Expo on October 2nd through the 4th in downtown historical Harrisburg Pennsylvania.
